Setting Goals You'll Actually Achieve

Using S.M.A.R.T. Goals to reach the finish line.

How are your resolutions going? Anybody guilty of a crazy goal that they inevitably fall off on, like going to the gym every single day when you’ve never worked out a day in your life?

When designing your goals, think SMART:

Specific: "I want to lose 20 pounds", rather than "I want to lose some weight"

Measurable: With weight loss, you must be able to weigh yourself, or take body measurements, to see how you are moving towards that goal

Attainable: Set a goal that's reasonable to achieve. If you weigh 200 pounds, it's probably not reasonable to want to lose 150

Relevant: Losing 20 pounds is clearly relevant to the larger goal of losing some weight

Time-bound: Pick a time frame you can accomplish your specific goal within. Let's say 20 weeks, making your goal 1 pound per week.

Holding yourself accountable and breaking big goals into smaller goals along a timeline will set you up for success! If you want to lose 20 pounds this year, break it down: I will lose a pound a week for the next 20 weeks.

Wishing everyone luck on reaching their goals!
